Escola Global is a private initiative which started in 2008 in a small finca with seven children. Stimulating each student’s intelligence, talents as well as social abilities, was a new approach nine years ago. In the outskirts of Palma de Mallorca were two trained teachers and a few part- time specialists in sport, music, art, dance and nutrition. Guido and Katja Hansen’s foundation wanted to provide a different and unique style of education for their growing children and their community.

When a great chef joined the small team, Guido and Katja felt settled as a school. Classes were given in the garden.  ‘A garden big enough to conquer the world,’ as Guido used to say with great vision.

The modest experience in the Finca gave the reassurance that Escola Global was moving in the right direction and needed expansion. Sometimes, it’s better to start small to get things creatively on the right track. In 2013, Escola Global went from one extreme to another. From a small historic finca to an endless glass surrounded modern building with lots of room to expand Guido and Katja’s vision.

Katja: We are grateful to our neighbors as well to the authorities for their support. Without them we wouldn’t be where we are now. Also, a special thank you to our families and school friends who have been supporting our vision during the first five years of existence. We will treasure it for life.

Guido: Our big dream is to put a humble seed into the world and contribute to positive actions in the future.
